HB 1081 -- LIQUOR CONTROL

COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass" by the Committee on Local
Government and Related Matters by a vote of 12 to 2.
This bill permits qualified licensed resorts in Camden, Miller,
and Morgan counties to remain open each day of the week until
3:00 a.m. of the morning of the following day. The time of
opening on Sunday may be 11:00 a.m. The resort's previous year
annual gross sales must be $100,000 or more. A resort is
defined as any establishment having at least 20 rooms for
transient guests, having at least 3,000 square feet of meeting
space, and having a restaurant on the premises.
FISCAL NOTE: Income to General Revenue Fund of $12,500 in FY
2001, $15,000 in FY 2002, and $15,000 in FY 2003.
PROPONENTS: Supporters say that this bill will only affect a
few establishments along the Lake of the Ozarks.
Testifying for the bill was Representative Hoppe.
OPPONENTS: Those who oppose the bill say that this bill will
add to the problem of intoxicated boat drivers on the Lake of
the Ozarks. The drivers will also drive at an excessive speed
when drinking.
Testifying against the bill was State Water Patrol.
