HB 1195 -- Critical Medical Devices

Co-Sponsors: Ladd Stokan, Abel

This bill prevents critical medical devices as classified by the
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention from being used in
more than one medical procedure. The bill specifies the
conditions which prohibit the re-use of such devices.

Critical medical devices are defined as patient care devices
which are introduced into the body and come into direct contact
with the bloodstream or other parts of the body which are
normally considered sterile.

A person who violates the provisions of this bill is guilty of a
misdemeanor and will be fined no more than $5,000 for the first
offense and no more than $10,000 for the second and subsequent
offenses.
