HB 1243 -- Reprieve or Commutation of Death Sentences

Sponsor:  Wright

This bill requires that the Governor's office contact families
of capital offense victims before the reprieve or commutation of
any prisoners' death sentences.  Families must be contacted at
least 24 hours before the Governor's decision is released to the
media.  If the Governor's decision is made less than 24 hours
before execution is scheduled, contact must be within 24 hours
of the decision.
