COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass" by the Committee on Judiciary
by a vote of 14 to 1.

This bill establishes the Drug Courts Coordinating Commission to
coordinate the allocation of resources to drug courts throughout
the state.  The commission is composed of 3 members selected by
the Missouri Supreme Court, one member selected by the State
Courts Administrator, and one member selected by each of the
departments of Corrections, Social Services, Mental Health, and
Public Safety.  The bill also establishes in the state treasury
the Drug Court Resources Fund to be administered by the
commission.  Funds available for allocation to drug courts may
be deposited into the fund.

FISCAL NOTE:  Estimated Net Effect on Drug Court Resources Fund
of $0 in FY 2001, FY 2002, and FY 2003.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say that this bill facilitates the
coordination of resources for drug courts.

Testifying for the bill were Representative Hosmer; Missouri
Supreme Court; Missouri Association of Drug Court Professionals;
and The Missouri Bar.

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
