HB 1935 -- Child Protection

Co-Sponsors: Monaco, Boucher, Mays (50), Bonner, Liese, Riley

This bill makes several changes to the child protection laws.
In its main provisions, the bill:

(1) Allows the Division of Family Services, at the sole
discretion of the local children's services director, to share
more information with mandated child abuse reporters about the
status of a case;

(2) Extends from 2 to 10 years the period after which a person
can have an unsubstantiated child abuse report destroyed if the
report was made a mandated reporter pursuant to Section 210.115,
RSMo;

(3) Extends from 5 to 10 years the period in which the division
is required to retain identifying information in cases where the
division found insufficient evidence of abuse or neglect and the
report was initiated by a mandated reporter pursuant to Section
210.115; and

(4) Clarifies that the phrase "other members of the child's
household" within the definition of "those responsible for the
care, custody, and control of a child" includes both minors and
adults.
