HB 1980 -- Scholarships for Foster Children

Co-Sponsors: Hartzler (124), Champion, Cierpiot, Hanaway,
Holand, Myers, Blunt

This bill requires the Coordinating Board for Higher Education
to provide college scholarships to any former foster child who
would have qualified for a federal Pell grant, but lost
eligibility for the grant because he or she was adopted or had a
legal guardian appointed after the age of 13. The amount of the
scholarship is to equal the amount of the Pell grant, had the
foster child remained eligible for and received the Pell grant.
