AN ACT

To amend chapter 170, RSMo, relating to educational instruction, materials and subjects by adding thereto one new section relating to the allowance of personal reflection or meditation time in school.



Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the state of Missouri, as follows:

Section A. Chapter 170, RSMo, is amended by adding thereto one new section, to be known as section 170.310, to read as follows:

170.310. Any school district may, after consultation with any parent groups in the district, adopt a time period for prayer time or personal reflection, to be used in whatever manner the student chooses for such prayer time or reflection. The district may choose to incorporate this time period as part of the daily curriculum of the district. The district may choose to incorporate this time period as part of the district's other self-esteem or character development programs, or this time period may be separate of other programs.
