REP. ROBERT M. CLAYTON III
90th General Assembly
Rep. Robert Clayton, a Democrat, represents Marion County and part of Shelby County (District 10) in the Missouri House of Representatives.
In addition to his legislative duties, Rep. Clayton is an attorney in private practice in Hannibal.
Rep. Clayton is a member of numerous organizations including Trinity Episcopal Church, the Hannibal Jaycees, the Hannibal Chamber of Commerce, the Missouri Bar, the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar and the 10th Judicial Circuit Bar Associations as well as the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis. He is also a member of Delta Theta Phi law fraternity; the Marion County Local Emergency planning committee; the Northeast Missouri Sheltered Workshop board; the Hannibal Arts Council; Eugene Field Action Council, executive committee; and the Historic Bethel German Colony. He is also a member of the executive committee of the Southern Legislative Conference and the Council of State Governments.
The former Articles editor of The Urban Lawyer, Rep. Clayton is the recipient of the President's Award from the Young Lawyers' section of the KCMBA.
Rep. Clayton was elected to the House in 1994 and for one term served as it's youngest member. He was re-elected in 1996 and 1998.
A graduate of Hannibal Public Schools (1987), Rep. Clayton received a bachelor of arts degree in history from Southern Methodist University in 1991 and received a juris doctorate degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City in 1994.
Born August 20, 1969, in Hannibal, Rep. Clayton is the grandson of former Senator George D. Clayton, Jr.
