REP. SCOTT B. LAKIN

90th General Assembly

Rep. Scott B. Lakin, a Democrat, represents part of Clay County (District 33) in the Missouri House of Representatives.

Elected to his first term in 1992, Rep. Lakin currently serves as a board member for the Missouri Consolidated Health Care Plan, Governor's Commission on the Cost of Higher Education and National Board of the Intergovernmental Health Policy of the National Conference of State Legislatures.

Prior to being elected to the House of Representatives, he served as a congressional aide to the late Dick Bolling from 1979-1983. Rep. Lakin was also associated with New England Financial Services from 1985-1989 and Hokanson, Lehman & Stevens, Inc. as an insurance agent from 1989-1998.

Rep. Lakin grew up in Gladstone, Mo. And graduated from Oak Park Senior High in 1976. He received a bachelor of science degree in business from William Jewell College in 1980. He is also a private pilot.

Rep. Lakin is a member of the following organizations: Gladstone Rotary; Gladstone Chamber of Commerce; KCI/Northland Regional Chamber of Commerce; Missouri chapter of the National Center to Prevent Child Abuse; Northland Transportation advisory committee; Missouri Kidney Program advisory council; Children's Mercy Hospital Child Protection Center advisory board; and the Wornall Road Baptist Church. He serves as a board member for the Northland Health Care Access, a primary care provider for those without health coverage; and as a board member for Synergy Services, Inc., a home for battered women and their children. Rep. Lakin is also an Honorary Fellow of the Harry S Truman Library Institute and a past board member of the Partnership for Children.

Born on Dec. 28, 1957 in Kansas City, Rep. Lakin currently resides in Kansas City North with his wife of 20 years, Cindy. They have three children: Kyle, Caroline and Christopher.
