REP. TERRY RILEY

90th General Assembly

Rep. Terry Riley, a Democrat, represents part of Kansas City (District 43) in the Missouri House of Representatives.

In addition to his legislative duties, Rep. Riley is the community affairs director for Midwest Open MRT Clinic. He is also the youngest person ever elected to the Kansas City School Board and served in that capacity from 1996 to August 1997.

Rep. Riley is involved in a number of civic organizations including: NAACP, former national vice president of N.B.C. of school board members, board of directors of Boys and Girls Club, advisory board member of the Greater Kansas City Job Corp, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, East Meyer Community Association, and Operation "Push." Rep. Riley is also involved in the Mandala mentoring program in four district schools. He was named in 100 Most Influential African Americans in Kansas City and received the National Brick Award Top 30 under 30 Young Up and Coming Leaders in America. Rep. Riley was nominated by the governor for the American Council of Young Political Leaders’ 2000 Foreign Political Study Program. He attends Saint James United Methodist Church.

His legislative highlights include passing an amendment on racial profiling after serving only 20 days in the House of Representatives.

A lifelong resident of the 43rd District, Rep. Riley attended Southeast Missouri State University.
