REP. AMBER H. BOYKINS

90th General Assembly

Rep. Amber H. Boykins, a Democrat, represents part of St. Louis City (District 60) in the Missouri House of Representatives.

Elected to her first term in 1998, Rep. Boykins serves as secretary of the Legislative Black Caucus and vice chair of the Freshman Caucus.

Before serving in the House, Rep. Boykins was the director of a child development center and a St. Louis Public School teacher. She also served as a caseworker for the Division of Family Services and as an aftercare worker for Hopewell Care Center, a comprehensive mental health facility.

Rep. Boykins is the youngest African American woman legislator in the history of the Missouri House. She is also the daughter of former State Representative Billie A. Boykins, who served in the House from 1978-1982. Additionally, Rep. Boykins and former State Representative Boykins are the only mother and daughter combination to serve in the Missouri House.

Rep. Boykins is a member of the following organizations: National Order of Women Legislators; Women in Government; the Penrose Housing Corporation; Delta Sigma Theta, Inc., a national public service sorority; and the Tax Increment Financing Commission; and a 1999 Henry Toll Fellow.

Rep. Boykins is a 1987 graduate of Cardinal Ritter College Prep High School in St. Louis and a 1991 graduate of Columbia College with a bachelor of science degree. She is currently pursuing her master’s degree in education and business administration.
