REP. DELBERT L. SCOTT
90th General Assembly
Rep. Delbert Scott, a Republican, represents St. Clair, Benton, Hickory and Pettis counties (District 119) in the Missouri House of Representatives.
Elected in a special election in 1985, Rep. Scott was elected to his eighth consecutive term in 1998. Rep. Scott was elected Minority Caucus Chairperson in 1994, a position he held until 1997. He was elected Minority Floor Leader in 1997, and was re-elected as Minority Leader in 1998.
Rep. Scott graduated from Mount Zion Bible School in 1967, and then attended Kansas City College Bible School in Overland Park, Kansas. He went on to graduate with a bachelor of science degree in education from Southwest Missouri State University. Rep. Scott taught music and history at the Mt. Zion school in Ava, Missouri. In addition to his legislative service, Rep. Scott currently runs a family owned hardware/home furnishings business in Lowry City, Missouri.
Rep. Scott was elected to the Lowry City Board of Aldermen in 1984 and has served as president of the Lowry City Chamber of Commerce. His business is a 30 year member of the National Federation of Independent Businesses (NFIB). In 1988, Rep. Scott was a delegate for the American Council of Young Political Leaders (ACYPL) to India. He has also been involved in numerous legislative conventions and study groups and is a member of the American Legislative Exchange Council and the National Conference of State Legislators (NCSL).
Rep. Scott is the recipient of the Missouri Farm Bureau Friend of Agriculture award and the 1997 Missouri Chamber of Commerce Spirit of Enterprise award. In 1997, Rep. Scott received the Missouri Chamber of Commerce Spirit of Enterprise award and in 1998 received the Voice of Missouri award, from Associated Industries of Missouri (AIM). The Missouri Community College Association chose Rep. Scott as a recipient of the MCCA Distinguished Legislator award in 1998.
Born September 9, 1949 in Clinton, MO, he currently resides in Lowry City. He and his wife Donna, have three children Todd, Timothy and Tiffany.
