REP. GARY L. BURTON
90th General Assembly
Rep. Gary L. Burton, a Republican, represents part of Jasper County (District 128) in the Missouri House of Representatives.
In addition to his legislative duties, Rep. Burton is a small business owner. He is part owner of M&B of S.W. Missouri, a property developing company; owner of B&B Organics, a marketing firm for organic soil products and an independent life and health insurance agent.
Rep. Burton is proud to have been or still is associated with the following: Missouri state chairman of the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC); chairman for a national telecommunications task force; past president for the Missouri state Special Olympics; Joplin workshop; McKinley School PTO; Southwest Missouri Life Underwriters; the Joplin Jaycees; councilman for the Joplin City Council; Parks and Recreation board; Zoning and Planning board; executive board secretary and member of Calvary Baptist Church; the Elks Lodge; Missouri Life Underwriters; Sons of the American Legion; the Joplin Chamber of Commerce; and president and founder of JANICS, a local non-profit internet provider.
A 1964 graduate of Knoxville High School, Rep. Burton received a bachelor of science degree in education from Eastern New Mexico University in 1968.
Born August 26, 1945, in Knoxville, Iowa, Rep. Burton resides in Carl Junction with his wife, the former Jennifer Grant. They have a blended family of six children: Mrs. Dianne Hamersky, Topeka, Ks.; Todd Burton, Merriam, Ks.; Lance Burton, Lawrence, Ks.; Melinda Burton, Joplin; Tye Grant, Kansas City, Mo.; and Nathan Grant, Mountain Home, Ark.; two grandsons and two granddaughters.
