HB 157 -- MARRIAGE LICENSES

SPONSOR:  Hosmer

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee
on Children, Families and Health by a vote of 15 to 0.

This bill increases from 10 days to 60 days the time within
which a person performing a marriage must certify that fact and
return the marriage license to the issuer.

FISCAL NOTE:  No impact on state funds.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say that the bill will establish
consistency in the statutes pertaining to the certification of
marriages in Missouri.

Testifying for the bill was Representative Hosmer.

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
