HCS HB 170 -- PROPERTY TAX COLLECTIONS SPONSOR: Kennedy (Froelker) COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass" by the Committee on Ways and Means by a vote of 13 to 0. This substitute extends the time period for refund or credit of an overpayment of property taxes that has been erroneously or mistakenly levied upon a taxpayer from one to 2 years. FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds. PROPONENTS: Supporters say that it is unfair to allow taxpayers to seek only one year of refund on property taxes when an error is made when other taxes allow 3 years. Testifying for the bill was Representative Froelker. OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
