Summary of the Committee Version of the Bill

HB 420 -- MOTORCYCLE SAFETY EDUCATION

CO-SPONSORS:  Williams, Franklin

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee
on Public Safety, Law Enforcement and Veteran Affairs by a vote
of 20 to 0.

This bill repeals the termination date for the Motorcycle Safety
Education Program.

FISCAL NOTE:  Income to Motorcycle Safety Trust Fund of $2,292
in FY 2002, and $2,750 in FY 2003 and FY 2004.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say that there is a demand for
motorcycle safety training in Missouri, and the state has a
quality program in place.  Motorcycle safety training is
important to public safety.

Testifying for the bill were Representative Williams; Missouri
Motorcycle Safety Program; and Freedom of Road Riders, Inc.

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
