HB 590 -- TAXATION: SMALL BUSINESS TAX CREDITS FOR ADA IMPROVEMENTS SPONSOR: Graham COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on Ways and Means by a vote of 14 to 0. This bill changes the administration of the tax credits for small businesses for amounts paid or incurred to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990. Under current law, the tax credits are administered exclusively by the Department of Revenue. The bill requires the departments of Economic Development and Revenue to jointly administer the tax credits. FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds. PROPONENTS: Supporters say that having the credit jointly administered by the Department of Revenue and the Department of Economic Development will make more small businesses aware that the credit is available. Testifying for the bill was Representative Graham. OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
