HB 60 -- KANSAS CITY POLICE OFFICER SALARY INCREASE CO-SPONSORS: Rizzo, Hoppe COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass" by the Committee on Urban Affairs by a vote of 11 to 1. This bill establishes a new salary scale for police officers in Kansas City. The bill sets the following salary ranges for these positions: Chief of Police: $80,211 - $150,296 Lieutenant Colonels: $71,969 - $99,660 Majors: $64,671 - $85,848 Captains: $59,539 - $81,744 Sergeants: $48,659 - $66,972 Detectives and Police Officers: $26,643 - $59,412 FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds. PROPONENTS: Supporters say that this is a standard pay raise that occurs every 2 years and that it is paid for by the City of Kansas City, not the state.
