HB 615 -- LAW ENFORCEMENT SALES TAX

SPONSOR:  Koller

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass" by the Committee on Local
Government and Related Matters by a vote of 17 to 0.

This bill increases the law enforcement sales tax that may be
imposed by all counties, except St. Louis and Jackson counties,
from 0.5% to 1%.

FISCAL NOTE:  Income to General Revenue Fund is $0 to Unknown in
FY 2002, FY 2003, and FY 2004.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say that counties need more funds for
law enforcement.

Testifying for the bill was Representative Koller.

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
