HB 930 -- COUNTY PLANNING AND ZONING CO-SPONSORS: Hollingsworth, McKenna, Wagner, Selby, Johnson (90) COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass" by the Committee on Local Government and Related Matters by a vote of 18 to 0. This bill expands the powers of counties of the first classification not having a charter form of government who have adopted county planning to regulate and control the building and use of buildings and structures in specific districts due to regulatory difficulties. Special building permits may be issued only after public hearings and the issuance of a special permit that sets out guidelines. FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds. PROPONENTS: Supporters say that Jefferson County needs to be able to regulate certain businesses that may have an impact on their neighbors. Testifying for the bill was Representative Hollingsworth.
