Summary of the Committee Version of the Bill

HB 933 -- SALES/USE TAX: TAXATION OF MOTOR VEHICLES

SPONSOR: Reid

COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee
on Ways and Means by a vote of 10 to 0.

This bill clarifies the sales and use taxation of motor
vehicles, trailers, motorcycles, mopeds, motortricycles, boats,
and motors under the sales tax law.

FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds.

PROPONENTS: Supporters say that under current law it can be
construed that motor vehicles are only taxed under the use tax
law. This change would clarify that motor vehicles are taxable
under the sales tax law.

Testifying for the bill was Representative Reid.

OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
