Summary of the Introduced Bill

HB 1018 -- Tobacco Settlement Funds

Co-Sponsors:  Cooper, Hunter, Roark, Henderson, Scott

This bill requires any proceeds from the Master Settlement
Agreement against major tobacco manufacturers to be distributed
as follows:

(1)  One-half to the County Health and Safety Fund.  Moneys in
the fund will be used to promote health and safety of the
residents of the state.  Moneys in the fund will be distributed
on June 1 of each year to the counties of the state based on the
population ratio of the last decennial census; and

(2)  One-half to the Healthy Missouri Trust Fund.  Moneys in the
fund will be used for smoking prevention and cessation, early
childhood care and education, prescription drug coverage and
health care, life sciences and medical research, and mental
health, subject to appropriation.
