AN ACT
To amend chapter 226, RSMo, by adding thereto one new section relating to limited access highways.
Section A. Chapter 226, RSMo, is amended by adding thereto one new section, to be known as section 226.193, to read as follows:
226.193. 1. The department of highways and transportation shall designate no highway as a limited access highway unless such designation is first approved by the general assembly. On or before December thirty-first of each year, the department of highways and transportation shall submit to the speaker of the house of representatives and the president pro tempore of the senate a list of proposed limited access highways. Any proposed limited access highway shall be deemed disapproved if the general assembly, within the first sixty calendar days of the regular session immediately following submission of the proposed designation, by concurrent resolution, disapproves any proposed designation of a highway as a limited access highway. Any proposed designations which are not disapproved by the general assembly shall take effect on January first of the following year.
2. The department of highways and transportation shall prepare and submit to the joint committee on
transportation oversight a list, before December 31, 2001, of all highways currently designated as limited access
highways. The committee by majority vote shall approve or disapprove each such designation as it deems
appropriate.
