House Concurrent Resolution No. 31
91ST GENERAL ASSEMBLY
Whereas, the application of pesticides, insecticides, or herbicides can cause mild to severe reactions in those persons who are exposed to the chemicals used in such products; and
Whereas, while the application of pesticides, insecticides, or herbicides in or around public buildings can be a necessary maintenance procedure, precautionary steps should be taken to protect members of the public and the persons who work in public buildings from unnecessary exposure to the harsh chemicals used in such pesticides, insecticides, and herbicides; and
Whereas, notice of the application of any pesticide, insecticide, or herbicide in or around a public building should be conspicuously posted in such building forty-eight hours prior to such application to provide the public and persons working in the building with adequate notice; and
Whereas, the application of pesticides, insecticides, and herbicides in or around public buildings should, whenever possible, be conducted after normal business hours at night or on the weekend to reduce the number of persons present in the building during such applications; and
Whereas, safeguarding the public as well as the persons who work in public buildings from unnecessary exposure to pesticides, insecticides, and herbicides should be a paramount consideration when applying such products as a maintenance procedure in and around public buildings:
Now, therefore, be it resolved that the members of the House of Representatives of the Ninety-first General Assembly, First Regular Session, the Senate concurring therein, hereby strongly recommend that the application of any pesticide, insecticide, or herbicide in any public building be conspicuously posted in such building forty-eight hours prior to such application, and that such applications be conducted after normal business hours to reduce the number of persons exposed; and
Be it further resolved that the Chief Clerk of the Missouri House of Representatives be instructed to prepare a
properly inscribed copy of this resolution for Governor Bob Holden.Return to the Missouri
