Rep. Meg Harding, a Democrat, represents part of Platte and Clay counties (District 30) in the Missouri House of Representatives.

Elected to the House in 2000, Rep. Harding has held a variety of jobs, but for several years has focused her energy as a civic volunteer. She previously worked as a senior editor in Washington, D.C., and was a speech and hearing therapist in the Arlington, Va. schools and with the Department of Defense overseas schools in Darmstadt, Germany.

Rep. Harding is a member of the following organizations: American Association of University Women; League of Women Voters of Kansas City; Northland Regional Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Kansas City Women's Political Caucus. She also serves on the board of directors of the Northland United Way Services; board of directors of Tri-County Mental Health Services; advisory board of the Sue Shear Institute for Women in Public Life; and J. Harold and Mabel Hamil Scholarship Committee of the Northland Community Foundation. She attends Parkville Presbyterian Church and sings in the choir.

Past gubernatorial and mayoral appointments include: Waste Minimization Commission of Kansas City, Brownfields Commission of Kansas City, Missouri Hazardous Waste Management Commission, and the Women's Kansas City Association for International Relations and Trade.

Rep. Harding has been honored as Woman of the Year from Church Women United of Platte County in 1998 and the D.A.R. National Conservation Committee award for Outstanding Achievement.

A 1963 graduate of Midland High School in Midland, Mich., Rep. Harding was graduated with distinction from the University of Michigan with a bachelor of arts degree in 1967.

Born July 15, 1945 in Midland, Mich., Rep. Harding lives in Kansas City with her husband, Stanley M. Halpin.
