REP. MAIDA J. COLEMAN

91st General Assembly

Rep. Maida Coleman, a Democrat, represents part of St. Louis City (District 63) in the Missouri House of Representatives.

Prior to being elected to the House in 2000, Rep. Coleman was the director in the St. Louis field office of the Secretary of State's Office. From 1996-1997 she served as the assistant director of Housing Management for the St. Louis Housing Authority.

Rep. Coleman was elected as a 7th Ward committeewoman in 1996 and 2000 and serves as vice chair of the 5th Senatorial District. She is also vice chair of the St. Louis Democratic City Central Committee and a member of the Greater St. Louis Association of Black Journalists and Women in Leadership. Rep. Coleman attends Central Baptist Church.

A 1972 graduate of Sikeston High School, Rep. Coleman received a bachelor of arts degree in journalism from Lincoln University in 1976. She is also certified by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) through their Public Housing Management Assessment Program and is certified in organizing and training residents in mutual housing and co-ops through the Neighborhood Reinvestment Training Institute.

Born July 1, 1954 in Sikeston, Rep. Coleman lives in St. Louis City. She has three children: John, Alaina and James.
