Rep. Kate Hollingsworth, a Democrat, represents part of Jefferson County (District 101) in the Missouri House of Representatives.

Rep. Hollingsworth was first elected to the Missouri House of Representatives in 1996. Prior to joining the legislature, she was a paralegal for a major department store company based in St. Louis.

Rep. Hollingsworth isn't the first in her family to serve in public office. Her grandfather, Herbert K. Moss, served as circuit judge in Jefferson County. Her mother, Nancy Moss Hollingsworth, served on the Jefferson College Board of Trustees for 24 years and her father, Brunson Hollingsworth, is a former prosecutor.

Rep. Hollingsworth has been a strong advocate on issues involving children and families. She wrote and passed the 1999 Family Care Safety Act, that requires background checks on child care and elder care workers. She received the 2000 Educated Heart award from the Judevine Center for Autism and was named a 1998 Her for Kids by Citizens for Missouri's Children.

She is a member of New Hope United Methodist Church, Sunday school teacher and preschool board member; COMTREA (community mental health board) board member; Jefferson County Community Partnership, secretary; National Order of Women Legislators; and the Jefferson County Democratic Central Committee.

A 1978 graduate of St. Pius X High School, Rep. Hollingsworth graduated from Jefferson College cum laude (1988) and Southeast Missouri State University cum laude (B.S. 1990).
