HB 1196 -- HIGHWAYS AND TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT FUND CO-SPONSORS: Barnett, Ostmann, Moore, Kelly (27), Cooper, Luetkenhaus, Ross, Luetkemeyer, May (149), Crawford, Shields, Koller COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on Transportation by a vote of 19 to 0. This bill removes the cap on the amount of money the Missouri Highway Patrol can receive from the Highways and Transportation Department Fund. FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds. PROPONENTS: Supporters say that it is hard to operate a division with a fiscal cap. Despite embracing a continued tradition of professionalism and public service, lack of salary increases forces patrol officers to seek better-paying jobs elsewhere. The bill will allow the patrol to move forward. Testifying for the bill were Representative Barnett; State Highway Patrol; and Missouri State Troopers Association. OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee. Robert Triplett, Legislative AnalystCopyright (c) Missouri House of Representatives
