Summary of the Committee Version of the Bill

HB 1645 -- HENRY SHAW OZARK CORRIDOR

SPONSOR:  Griesheimer

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on
Transportation by a vote of 21 to 0.

This bill designates a portion of Interstate 44, log mile 277.3,
Geyer Road overpass to log mile 255.0, one mile west of Gray
Summit interchange, as the "Henry Shaw Ozark Corridor."

FISCAL NOTE:  Estimated Net Cost to Road Fund of $0 in FY 2003,
FY 2004, and FY 2005.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say that the bill acknowledges Missouri's
inherent interest in its national heritage (the Ozarks).  It
introduces the traveling public to a special area within the St.
Louis metropolitan area.  The bill allows the local communities
to promote their collective health and vigor to those who live,
work, and play within the Henry Shaw Ozark Corridor.

Testifying for the bill was Representative Griesheimer.

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
