HB 1988 -- OFFICIAL STATE HORSE

CO-SPONSORS:  Kelly (144), Kreider, Robirds, Marsh

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass" by the Committee on
Miscellaneous Bills and Resolutions by a vote of 11 to 0.

This bill names the Missouri Fox Trotting Horse as the official
state horse.

FISCAL NOTE:  No impact on state funds.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say that the breed's world headquarters
are in Missouri, and there are approximately 70,000 registered
Missouri Foxtrotting horses.  The bill would be good for the
state economy.

Testifying for the bill were Representative Kelly (144); and
Missouri Foxtrotting Horse Breeding Organization.

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
