Summary of the House Committee Version of the Bill

HCS SB 1078 -- COUNTY RECORDER OF DEEDS

SPONSOR: Kennedy (Hoppe)

COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on
Local Government and Related Matters by a vote of 16 to 0.

This substitute transfers custody of the County Recorder's Fund
from the State Treasurer to the Department of Revenue. Moneys in
the County Recorder's Fund are not to be considered state funds.

The substitute also clarifies that the Department of Revenue must
administer the Uniform Commercial Code Transition Fee Trust Fund.
Moneys in that fund are not to be considered state funds. The
Secretary of State is required to provide the Department of
Revenue and the County Employees' Retirement Fund with an
accurate record of the moneys.

FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds.

PROPONENTS: Supporters say that the bill corrects a problem with
a bill passed last year. The Department of Revenue must collect
these moneys.

Testifying for the bill was Senator Kennedy.

OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
