Summary of the House Committee Version of the Bill

SB 1109 -- DRIVER'S LICENSES

SPONSOR:  Yeckel (Portwood)

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on
Motor Vehicle and Traffic Regulations by a vote of 8 to 0.

This bill requires the Department of Revenue to give all first-
time driver licensees information on the danger of operating a
motor vehicle while in an intoxicated or drugged condition.

FISCAL NOTE:  No impact on state funds.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say that this information may help young
drivers to understand the dangers or operating a vehicle in an
intoxicated or drugged condition.

Testifying for the bill was Senator Yeckel.

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
