Summary of the House Committee Version of the Bill

HCS SB 1119 -- STATE FACILITIES

SPONSOR:  Johnson (Kelly, 27)

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on
Public Safety, Law Enforcement and Veteran Affairs by a vote of
20 to 0.

This substitute authorizes the Office of Administration to
provide armed security guards at state-owned or leased
facilities, excluding facilities located in Jefferson City or
Cole County.  The Office of Administration may hire guards as
state employees or contract with a licensed firm.

FISCAL NOTE:  No impact on state funds.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say that the bill will help to increase
security for state buildings and employees.

Testifying for the bill was Senator Johnson.

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
