SCS SB 1203 -- TAX EXEMPTION FOR TRANSFERS BY CERTAIN INTERSTATE
COMPACT AGENCIES

SPONSOR:  Yeckel (Hilgemann)

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass" by the Committee on Ways and
Means by a vote of 14 to 2.

This substitute exempts from real and personal property taxes and
from state and local sales and use taxes transfers of certain
property by the Bi-State Metropolitan Development District and
the Kansas City Area Transportation District Authority.

FISCAL NOTE:  Estimated Net Cost to Blind Pension Fund of Unknown
in FY 2003, FY 2004, and FY 2005.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say that the substitute will put into law
a practice that is already being used by the Bi-State Transit
Authority.

Testifying for the bill were Senator Yeckel; and Bi-State Transit
Authority.

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
