HCS SB 1213 -- RAILROAD POLICE OFFICERS
SPONSOR: Mathewson (Hosmer)
COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on
Public Safety, Law Enforcement and Veteran Affairs by a vote of
20 to 0.
This substitute requires that railroad policemen be commissioned
by the Director of the Department of Public Safety and requires
all railroad policemen employed after September 28, 1971, to be
licensed peace officers in accordance with the provisions of
Chapter 590, RSMo.
FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds.
PROPONENTS: Supporters say that the bill will help keep Missouri
railways safe by ensuring that railroad police officers meet
certain regulations and are properly trained.
Testifying for the bill were Senator Mathewson; and Missouri
Railroad Police Officers.
OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
