Summary of the House Committee Version of the Bill

SB 1243 -- LODGING ESTABLISHMENTS

SPONSOR:  Johnson (McKenna)

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on
Tourism, Recreation and Cultural Affairs by a vote of 16 to 0.

This bill changes the term "innkeeper" in the statutes to
"lodging establishment."  The bill also changes posting
requirements of certain notices to be placed at the registration
desk and in the guest rooms of the lodging establishment.

FISCAL NOTE:  No impact on state funds.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say the term "innkeeper" is obsolete and
not used in the industry any longer.

Testifying for the bill was Representative Lawson for Senator
Johnson.

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
