Co-Sponsors: Ross, Moore, Secrest, Farnen, Crawford, Behnen,

This bill revises the law on tinting of motor vehicle windows.

Any tinting of rear side windows and rear windows installed
before August 28, 2001, is permitted.

After August 28, 2001, tinting of side and rear windows must have
a light transmission of 35% or more (plus or minus 3%) and a
luminous reflection of 35% or less (plus or minus 3%).

Any tinting of front sidewing vent windows or front side windows
is permitted if installed pursuant to a physician's prescription
prior to August 28, 2001.

After the effective date of the bill, a permit for manufactured
tinting material on side or rear windows with less light
transmission and more luminous reflectance than otherwise allowed
may be issued by the Department of Public Safety if the
operator's physician prescribes it.

The bill has an emergency clause.
