Rep. Kathlyn
Fares, a Republican, represents part of St. Louis County (District 91), which
includes Webster Groves, Glendale, the lower portion of Shrewsbury and one
precinct each in Brentwood, Marlborough and Rock Hill in the Missouri House of
Representatives.
Elected to the
House in 2000, Rep. Fares previously was the in-district assistant to the
former representative from the 91st District, Emmy McClelland. She also works in the family business, Fares
Interior Furnishings, an upholstery and antique restoration business. Prior to that she worked in various business
settings throughout the St. Louis area and was a secondary school educator from
1964-1978 in the Riverview Gardens and Webster Groves school districts.
Rep. Fares is
a member of the Webster Groves/Shrewsbury Chamber of Commerce, the Webster
Groves Lions club and serves on the Webster Groves High School Community
Advisory Committee. She is Boy Scouts of America and Exploring leader trained and
a former advisor. She attends the Evangelical United Church of Christ where she
served on the council and as stewardship and house and properties chair.
A Jefferson
Township Republican committeewoman since 1994, Rep. Fares was honored as the
1999 Woman of Tribute by the Missouri Federation of Republican Women/Jefferson
Township RWC.
A graduate of
Carrollton High School, Rep. Fares attended Central Methodist College and
received a bachelor of science in education from Central Missouri State
University in 1964.
Born September
7, 1942 in Kansas City, Rep. Fares lives in St. Louis County with her husband,
Lee. They have two children, Scott
Fares and Heather Fares Kloeckener, and two grandchildren, Henry Kloeckener and
Preston Fares.
