HB 175 -- MISSOURI MINORITY BUSINESS ADVOCACY COMMISSION SPONSOR: Bland COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass" by the Special Committee on Urban Issues by a vote of 11 to 0. This bill moves the Missouri Minority Business Advocacy Commission from the Department of Economic Development to the Office of Administration. The bill also updates intersectional references. FISCAL NOTE: Cost to General Revenue Fund of $360 in FY 2004, $369 in FY 2005, and $378 in FY 2006. PROPONENTS: Supporters say that the Office of Administration will be able to give more time and attention to the commission than the Department of Economic Development can. Supporters also say that the Office of Administration is a perfect match for the commission because it already does work related to minority business advocacy. Supporters say the bill is necessary to give permanence to Executive Order 03-06, which was issued in February 2003. Testifying for the bill was Representative Bland. OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee. Alice Hurley, Legislative AnalystCopyright (c) Missouri House of Representatives
