HB 237 -- CAMPAIGN CONTRIBUTION LIMITS SPONSOR: Johnson (47) COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass" by the Committee on Elections by a vote of 7 to 5. This bill doubles the limit on campaign contributions made by individuals and makes those limits applicable to continuing committees which are political party committees. The bill also reduces by 90% the limit on campaign contributions made by political party committees. FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds. PROPONENTS: Supporters say that the actual origin of all campaign contributions should be disclosed; and if they are not, then those contributions should be limited. Testifying for the bill was Representative Johnson (47). OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
