Summary of the Committee Version of the Bill

HB 265, HCA 1 -- SPEED LIMITS ON CERTAIN COUNTY ROADS

SPONSOR:  Cooper (120)

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass" by the Committee on
Transportation and Motor Vehicles by a vote of 19 to 0.

This bill allows any second, third, or fourth classification
county by ordinance to set countywide speed limits on roads
within the county.

HCA 1 -- Makes technical changes.

FISCAL NOTE:  No impact on state funds.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say the bill will give second, third, and
fourth classification counties the authority to establish speed
limits more appropriate for the county.

Testifying for the bill were Representative Cooper (120); Henry
County Clerk; and Missouri Municipal League.

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
