HB 440 -- DENTAL WELL-BEING COMMITTEE SPONSOR: Portwood COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on Professional Registration and Licensing by a vote of 16 to 0. This bill allows the State Dental Board to disclose confidential records and information to the board's Committee on Well-Being for the purpose of assisting in the rehabilitation of impaired licensees. All information disclosed to the committee is still considered confidential and closed to the public. FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds. PROPONENTS: Supporters say that the bill creates needed clarifying language. At this time, the board is unable to communicate with the Well-Being Committee. Allowing them to communicate with each other will expedite intervention and treatment. Testifying for the bill were Representative Portwood; and Dr. J. C. Stanley.
