Summary of the Committee Version of the Bill

HB 463 -- STATE DESIGNATION

CO-SPONSORS: King, Viebrock, Cooper (120)

COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on
Local Government by a vote of 14 to 0.

This bill makes the City of Adrian the purple martin capital of
Missouri.

FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds.

PROPONENTS: Supporters say that this is an environmentally
friendly bill because purple martins eat mosquitoes and other
insects. Citizens, the city, and civic organizations in Adrian
have put up purple martin houses. All the states around Missouri
have cities recognized as purple martin capitals. This will
recognize Adrian for what it is already doing.

Testifying for the bill was Representative King.

OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
