HB 523 -- GAMING RECORDS CO-SPONSORS: Dusenberg, Crawford, Skaggs COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on Crime Prevention and Public Safety by a vote of 15 to 0. This bill requires the Missouri Gaming Commission to submit two sets of fingerprints to the State Highway Patrol for every person seeking employment with the commission or anyone seeking a new or renewal of a license required by the commission related to bingo or excursion boat gaming. The Highway Patrol will run various searches against national data bases and inform the commission of any criminal history. FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds. PROPONENTS: Supporters say that the bill does not change current practices or requirements. It merely codifies the procedure and clarifies that any record of an employee's criminal history can be accessed by the Missouri Gaming Commission. Testifying for the bill were Representatives Dusenberg and Crawford; and Missouri Gaming Commission. OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
