HB 598 -- SPECIAL LICENSE PLATE CO-SPONSORS: Schlottach, Viebrock, Crawford, Whorton, Bishop, Green COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on Transportation and Motor Vehicles by a vote of 20 to 0. This bill allows owners of motor vehicles other than apportioned or commercial motor vehicles licensed in excess of 18,000 pounds gross weight to apply for special personalized license plates. The bill also contains minor clean up language. FISCAL NOTE: Estimated Net Effect on Highway Fund of a cost of $11,026 in FY 2004, an income of $5,969 in FY 2005, and an income of $5,969 in FY 2006. PROPONENTS: Supporters say that many people driving pickups or trucks with registered weights including 18,000 pounds gross weights would like to have special personalized license plates.
