HB 599 -- MUNICIPAL COURT COSTS CO-SPONSORS: Burnett, Carnahan, Yates, Pratt, Harris (23), Johnson (90) COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on Judiciary by a vote of 18 to 0. This bill allows Kansas City to charge additional court costs up to $5 per case for municipal ordinance violations to be used for the procurement, installation, maintenance, consulting services, and upkeep of a court information and records management system. FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds. PROPONENTS: Supporters say that the bill will help municipal courts update and modernize their records management system.
