HB 618 -- REPEAL OF CERTAIN OBSOLETE STATUTES SPONSOR: Yates COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass" by the Committee on Judiciary by a vote of 18 to 0. This bill repeals 16 sections of statute that are outdated or expired. The sections cover the following topics: (1) Direction to legislative research to prepare a transfer-revision bill (Section 23.200, RSMo); (2) Arrangements for owners of a parcel of land to choose to join one municipality or another (Section 72.424); (3) State employee eligibility for leave to participate in tutoring programs in St. Louis and Kansas City district schools (Section 105.268); (4) Sales tax exemptions related to the 1994 World Cup soccer tournament and 1994 United States Olympic festival (Sections 144.041 and 144.514); (5) Livestock packers (Sections 277.200 - 277.215); (6) Advisory working group on alcohol-related car fatalities (Section 302.295); (7) Recording of location of certain underground facilities (Section 319.023); (8) Disposition for noncompliance of secured party in default actions on secured transactions (Section 400.9-629); and (9) Task force on trade and investment (Section 620.1310). FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds. PROPONENTS: Supporters say that the bill cleans up the statutes. Testifying for the bill was Representative Yates.
