HB 689 -- FAILURE TO STOP FOR A SCHOOL BUS CO-SPONSORS: Adams, Yeager, Moore, Jackson, Crawford, Salva, Darrough COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass" by the Committee on Transportation and Motor Vehicles by a vote of 20 to 0. In addition to the penalty provided by law for failure to stop for a school bus that is loading or unloading, this bill allows the court to suspend for up to 120 days the driver's license of any person who violates this provision. FISCAL NOTE: Estimated Net Cost to Highway Fund of $23,040 in FY 2004, $0 in FY 2005, and $0 in FY 2006. PROPONENTS: Supporters say the bill will improve the safety of children loading and unloading from school buses.
