HCS HJR 9 & 6 -- TERM LIMITS SPONSOR: May (Yates) COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass" by the Committee on Elections by a vote of 7 to 3. This proposed constitutional amendment prohibits any person from being elected Lieutenant Governor, Secretary of State, Attorney General, or Auditor more than twice. No person who has held the office of or acted as Lieutenant Governor, Secretary of State, Attorney General, or Auditor for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected may be elected more than once. FISCAL NOTE: Not available at time of printing. PROPONENTS: Supporters say that the bill is necessary to provide consistency and uniformity in constitutional term limits. Testifying for the bill were Representatives Parker and Yates. OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
