HB 563 -- Length of Motor Vehicles

This bill revises the length provisions for automobile and boat
transporters in compliance with federal regulations.

Automobile transporters designed to carry motor vehicles on the
tractor or power unit and boat transporters, both equipped with
fifth-wheel hitches located on the tractor frame over the rear
axle, and truck-trailer boat transporter combinations may have an
overall length of no more than 65 feet.  Stinger-steered
combination automobile or boat transporters designed to carry
motor vehicles on the tractor or power unit equipped with a
fifth-wheel hitch located on a drop frame positioned below and
behind the rear tractor axle may have an overall length of no
more than 75 feet.

The bill also clarifies the language allowing a three-foot front
overhang and a four-foot rear overhang on these transporters.
